December schedule posted

Did anyone show up on Sunday? I was up early, got ready to ride, and then got on the intertubes in my office for awhile. Came outside at 6:20, and it was raining yet again. So back to bed I went.

This week, its First Watch, Mountain View and the Black Canyon. Looks like it should be dry, so see ya Sunday.

Wishing it was September...

This year on the Mickelson Trail Trek, there was a crew from South Dakota Public Broadcasting following the crowd all three days. I remember they said it would air in November, but pretty much forgot about it. Well, it was aired on November 7, and through the magic of the Intertubes it is watchable online.

So, without further ado, here is the 11/7/13 edition of Dakota Life entitled Run, Bike and Swim SD. First up is the Mickelson Trail Deadwood Marathon, then the Trail Trek, followed by a history of how the trail came into being.

No, I am not seen. However, my friend Nyle's back can be seen at the 11:55 mark, wearing a Iowa Hawkeyes jersey and scarfing freshly baked treats.

October schedule posted

And remember, start time switches to winter hours this weekend, rides now start at 7:30 AM. Abe's is the destination this week, but I won't be available to lead. You'll have to find your own way.

See you on the 13th...

Spent the morning in line at the AZ emissions test facility

What's wrong with this photo?

Yes, they actually rolled the fan over to apparently keep my license plate nice and cool. Oy.

August schedule posted

Well, I guess summer is here now...

At 4 AM this morning when I awoke, it was 94 degrees. Holy crap. Went for a walk at 5 AM, and you could just barely see Piestawa Peak through the smoke and dust haze covering the city. Would be nice if it rained, but if it does it's going to rain mudballs.

July schedule is posted over there on the left. Good news is Oink! is the destination this week. Bad news? Sorry, you gotta ride up the Dreamy Draw to get there. This past Sunday on the Draw, I ended up running over some sort of snake on the path, and then narrowly missed a jackrabbit leaping just in front of me. As a man of my advanced weight, I'm pretty sure the snake didn't make it.

If you haven't been keeping up with Jerry Seindeld's Intertubes project "Comedians in cars getting coffee", check out this newer episode with David Letterman. And tune back in this Thursday, a new episode with the one and only Don Rickles will be posted.

See ya Sunday!

Ridin' The Vortex

Here's a few pictures from the weekend's MS ride. Beautiful weather, lots of sunshine, and an improved route on Saturday that kept us off I-17 added to the enjoyment of a weekend of cycling. Quite the improvement over last year's snow-filled extravaganza.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

Just got an email from my friend Randy back in the midwest. Omaha has reached 100 degrees today, the earliest ever recorded. Now sure, sometimes records are broken, but this one comes just 48 hours after Sunday's low of 32 degrees. Yes, they had freeze warnings that night! And now 100.

Reminds me of the time, years ago, when Randy and I drove from Omaha down to Lincoln to see ZZ Top perform at the Pershing Auditorium. It was a beautiful spring day, I had the T-tops open all the way to the capital city. Well, after the show, I heard a guy in the bathroom talking about the snow outside. I figured he was on acid, and kept a wide berth between us. Well, we walked outside and it was snowing! Drove 10 mph all the way up the freeway to Omaha.

It is very true, if you don't like the weather in Nebraska, just wait 10 minutes- it'll change.

P.S. A reminder that I will not be around this Sunday 5/19 for the ride to Dotties, as I will be in Cottonwood for the MS ride. See ya on the 26th!

Another no-show Sunday

I'll be MIA this Sunday for the ride to First Watch Metrocenter, as I have to get to work by about 2:30 AM. So you are on your own, or perhaps Dennis will be able to lead.

I do expect to be there next week the 21st, so see ya then..

April Schedule Posted

Here it is, the first of April, and I actually got the schedule posted already. Now remember, the start moves up to 6:30 AM. And that's no April Fool's joke.

But here is the first one I found on the Intertubes today- The new Google Nose Beta application. Load it on your smartphone or iPad and find out exactly what that smell is...

Change of destination Easter Sunday

Just got an email, seems that the Eye Opener has decided to close for Easter. So the destination is now the Moon Valley Cafe at 502 E. Thunderbird.

Blogger is giving me fits, I tried to change the schedule over there on the left, and it won't let me delete or change the entry. So ignore that please, it's Moon Valley this week.

Also, remember this is the LAST 7:30 AM start - next week the summer schedule starts and our start time is 6:30.

Missing in action

So yesterday I missed yet another ride, which really sucks when the weather is this nice. I'm really getting tired of this working every weekend thing, not to mention missing Randy's, one of my favorite destinations.

This Sunday the 24th, the destination is Deer Valley Airport, and I'll be gone yet again. There is every chance I can make the Easter morning ride, so I've got my fingers crossed.

But in the meantime, take a look over there in the corner, I've put up the link to my Bike MS page. If you've got a spare buck or two, please consider donating to bring us closer to a world without MS. And as always, this week I'll match every donation dollar-for-dollar up to $200.

March Schedule Posted

Over there on the left, there it is. This Sunday (3/3) its Paradise Bakery at Gainey Village. I won't be there. In fact, I doubt I'll make any Sunday ride this month. I'll be lucky if I get a day off before we leave for Omaha later in the month for my nephew's wedding.

So somebody look at a map this week, you're on your own. See you in April!

This Sunday 2/10

I may or may not be able to make the ride to the Eye Opener in Sunnyslope on Sunday. Working Saturday and Sunday, but depends on how the schedule shakes out if I am free in the morning.

I'll leave you with a "Bad Lip Reading" YouTube video that's teh funny (hat tip to Esther!)

About Damn Time...

That I finally got the January schedule posted. Sorry, after last Sunday's chilly ride the cold that was teasing me hit full-force. Did not even manage to bike to work any day this week. Feeling better now, so I should be able to lead the ride tomorrow to Papi Chulo's at Scottsdale and Chaparral. See you then.
