Five & Diner, Scottsdale

Snapped several pictures, but this is the only one that doesn't have someone's head cut off. So I'm no Ansel Adams. Say Hi Dennis...

Next week, remember starting time moves up to 6:30 AM.

Don't harsh my mellow, dude...

Saturdays are not usually my own. Normally, every other Saturday, I'm on call, which means someone is likely to screw up something very early (since many of our stores are in the Eastern time zone, they start work at 5 AM our time).

The last two Saturdays I've been on call and several Saturdays before that I had Dish Network calling me early in the morning to ask me to bring my business back to them for my satellite TV needs. I couldn't make them understand that I resubscribed to them a year ago. Do you routinely wake up and piss off your current customers?

I was so looking forward to sleeping in this morning, but it was not to be. The American Diabetes Association decided I shouldn't sleep in today either. Joy.

I've decided the next time someone phones me on my rare sleep-in Saturdays, they're going to get one of these cannons shoved up their hoo-hah.

Easter at Village Inn

A somewhat smaller-than-usual group showed up for the ride to Scottsdale yesterday, but the warm weather is HERE! Finally.

And today it's going to be 90 degrees. Bring on the heat!

Here's a picture of Joan and Eric as we are getting ready for the ride back to Granada.

Next week is the last 7:30 start before summer hours begin in April. See ya then.

Breaking News!

I don't watch much local news, because frankly it's just so bad. They'll send one of those remote trucks to stand the pretty blonde in front of a location that has little to no relevance to the story.

Or, during the ratings sweeps weeks in November and May, you're likely to hear "Coming up next, new sizzling summer swimwear styles" (yeah, someone gave them a grammer book and it fell open to the "alliteration" page). Or even worse - "Do Americans still like sex? Survey results coming up after the break on Action News".

But the smarmy annoying banter between anchors and reporters irritates me the most. I guess that's why I enjoyed this video so much....

Last Sunday of Winter

Old Man Winter decided to throw about five minutes of ice pellets at us this morning when we left the First Watch in North Scottsdale. Just so we remember what a nasty old fart he can be.

This, on the same morning that Arizona Republic columnist Clay Thompson announced the annual Guess The First 100-Degree Day Contest.

Remember next Sunday may be your last chance to visit the Village Inn in Scottsdale- at least that's what I hear, anyway.

And hopfully it'll be a little bit warmer.

The Eye Opener via Dreamy Draw

Here's some pics from this morning's rather roundabout trek to the Eye Opener.
Last weekend, the hills near Lake Pleasant along the Carefree Highway were ablaze with yellow and orange.
I had the mileage at 21 for the round trip.
See ya next week.
